Improvisation
Because of time constraints, a work of mine scheduled for a premiere
at the Pine Mountain Music Festival's New Chamber Music Concert won't
go ahead. Yesterday, I told a friend of mine (who'd played a
work of mine four years ago at the same event) that he could tell the
person in charge of the concert that I could fill my space with an
improvised piece, and then I said that I didn't think that classical
folks believed in improvisation. He didn't really dispute
that. Too bad. I could have given the people this week
some really new music. Instead, we'll do it at a
restaurant on Thursday night.
More on MoveOn.org. The latest e-mail from them is
fear-mongering about the Republican presidential hopefuls.
They talk about how they'd continue the war, etc. All no doubt
true. But they'd do it because a Democrat controlled congress
would vote them the money to do it, just like they have for
Bush. Truth is, any Democrat hopeful with a chance of getting
the nomination would prolong the war.
